“I think a lot of the music that’s being played on the radio sounds more like ’70s pop than it does country music. There’s room for that, but if you’re going to call it country music, for God’s sakes, let’s hear some country,” says Billy Block, a radio producer.

Numerous country artists have complained that the loss of steel guitars and banjos is interferring with the true heart and soul of country music. If such factors, as well as others, are absent from the so-called “country music” should it be considered country at all? Are such artists changing the ways of country music?
